No. 18 Bruins offense explodes in four game sweep of Trinidad State

SLCC scores most runs since 2002 in lopsided weekend series

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Wednesday, February 28, 2024) – No. 18 Salt Lake swept a four-game series against the Trinidad State JC Trojans in impressive fashion, scoring double-digit runs in all four games.

SLCC followed up a Sunday doubleheader sweep by plating 34 runs on Monday, improving to 10-2 on the young season.

Game Three
SLCC 11 | Trinidad State 1

Trey Gambill and Kaden Hodson combined for seven RBI in the win. Gambill went 3-5 with a triple and four RBI. Salt Lake drew ten walks and stole six bases as a team.

Redshirt sophomore Traton Staheli (1-0) tossed two innings and struck out three to get the win—four Bruin pitchers combined to strike out 11 batters.

Game Four
SLCC 23 | Trinidad State 3

Dalton Smith (1-0) picked up the win on the mound, but the Bruins offense was the story of the day as they scored early and often, finishing with 23 runs on 16 hits in a dominating performance.

Freshman Gage Easton went 4-5 at the plate with a double and a homer and scored three runs. Easton finished the afternoon with seven RBI. Sophomore outfielder Satsuki Kawakami was 3-3 with a pair of doubles, a triple, and two RBI.

Salt Lake's 23 runs scored are the most by a Bruin team since 2002.

The No. 18 Bruins open Scenic West Athletic Conference play in the Centennial State against Colorado Northwestern CC.
