TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 7, 2023) – A tough loss to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play last week didn't keep the No. 6 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team down for long.
The Bruins rolled to an impressive victory in their only match of the week, picking up a 5-0 road win over Southern Nevada. SLCC is now 3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in Scenic West matches.
Salt Lake scored in just the sixth minute, with Mao Ito posting a goal on an Anna Pinegar assist. Pinegar then posted a goal in the 11th minute, with Whitney Garn scoring in the 27th minute to lift the Bruins to a 3-0 lead at halftime. Adeline Fiefia scored in the 50th minute off a Caitlin Parry assist, while Abbit Sanford notched another goal in the 87thminute.
SLCC held a 19-14 advantage in total shots. Salt Lake goalkeeper Aliya Garrett made five saves.Â
The Bruins will return home next week for a matchup with Pacific Northwestern, starting a string of home matches.Â
