TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 15, 2023) – The No. 12 Salt Lake Community College softball team owned the Scenic West Athletic Conference during the 2023 regular season, and if it's any indication, it looks like the Bruins want to argue for ownership of the postseason also.
 
SLCC opened this week's Region 18 tournament with an impressive victory at Norma Carr Field, earning an 8-1 run-rule win over Southern Nevada to move into the winners' bracket. The victory lifts the Bruins to 41-10 overall.
 
Brooklyn Pritchett started the scoring bonanza in the second inning, hitting an RBI single, followed by Ry Binne doing the same. Miranda Mansfield hit a two-run double in the third inning, with Bailey Marvin posting an RBI sacrifice-fly in the same frame. Mansfield also had a two-run single in the sixth inning. 
 
Binne went 3-of-3 in the victory, while Mansfield was 2-of-4 with four RBI's. Anthony went 3-of-4 at the plate, scoring a pair of runs. Tiffany Hermansen was dominant in the pitching circle, throwing seven innings and allowing just one run.
 
Salt Lake will play Southern Idaho in Tuesday's winners' bracket game.
