No. 12 SLCC Softball finishes Saturday sweep

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 8, 2023) – Another Scenic West doubleheader, another sweep for the No. 12 Salt Lake Community College Softball team.
 
SLCC moved to a pair of wins over USU Eastern, earning victories of 8-0 and 9-6 over the in-state rival. The Bruins are now 27-8 overall and 21-3 in Scenic West play, going 3-1 in the series.
 
Salt Lake is heading into a series at Colorado Northwestern next weekend. 
 
Salt Lake 8, USU Eastern 0: SLCC started the day fast and never looked back in the run-rule victory.
 
Bailey Marvin hit a two-run single in the first inning, followed up by Brooklyn Pintar adding an RBI single later in the inning. Mikelle Anthony hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, then Chloe Woods added an RBI double in the fifth inning.
 
Taylor Hagen posted a standout pitching performance, throwing five innings and allowing no-hits, with just a single walk. 
 
Salt Lake 9, USU Eastern 6: A five-run sixth inning lifted the Bruins to a victory.
 
Tied at 4-4, Mikelle Anthony hit a two-run home run to break the tie for good, with Miranda Mansfield and Brooklyn Pritchett both hitting RBI singles. Kendyl Purdy then posted an RBI single in the frame.
 
Anthony, Pritchett and Tiffany Benson all went 2-of-4 in the game. Taylor Hagen earned the pitching win in relief, throwing two scoreless innings.
