Saturday doubleheader ends in No. 13 SLCC Softball sweep

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 29, 2023) – Another day, another doubleheader sweep for the No. 13 SLCC Softball team.
 
The Bruins downed Southern Nevada in a pair of games Saturday, moving to 8-0 on the season against the Lady Coyotes after wins of 12-2 and 16-8. The wins move Salt Lake to 37-9 overall and 31-4 in Scenic West games.
 
SLCC will close the regular season next weekend, hosting Snow College.
 
Salt Lake 12, Southern Nevada 2: A fast start powered SLCC to the run-rule win.
 
Mikelle Anthony, Bailey Marvin and Brooklyn Pritchett all hit home runs in the first inning, with Trinity Benson then hitting a solo shot in the second inning. Lyndsey Madrigal added a solo home run in the fourth inning.
 
Madrigal and Brooklyn Pintar both went 2-of-3, with Pritchett finishing with four RBI's. Marvin also earned the pitching win.
 
Salt Lake 16, Southern Nevada 8: An early CSN lead didn't hold as the Bruins earned the series sweep.
 
Trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the first inning, Madison Shell hit a two-run double to key a SLCC run, then Lyndsey Madrigal hit a two-run home run in the third inning. Madrigal added another home run in the fifth inning, then added an RBI double in the sixth inning.
 
Madrigal was 3-of-3 in the game, while Brooklyn Pritchett went 3-of-4.
