TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 10, 2023) – Monday's games at Cate Field have established a clear leader in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Unfortunately, it is not the Salt Lake Community College Baseball team.

SLCC split a Monday doubleheader with No. 16 Southern Nevada, posting results of a 5-2 win and a 9-4 loss. Salt Lake is now 16-12 overall and 14-6 in Scenic West play.

Salt Lake will travel to play a series at Colorado Northwestern next weekend.

Salt Lake 5, Southern Nevada 2: SLCC overcame an early CSN lead, powering to the impressive win.

Trailing 1-0 in the third inning, the Bruins scored a pair of runs as
Daniel Gonzalez had an RBI single. Salt Lake then scored a run in the fourth inning on a balk, followed up by a
Chip Beck RBI single leading SLCC to a 5-1 advantage.

Gonzalez was 3-of-4 in the win.
Dalton Smith earned the pitching win, throwing 6.1 innings and posting a pair of strikeouts.

Southern Nevada 9, Salt Lake 4: The Bruins fell behind early and never recovered in the series-ending loss.

Southern Nevada jumped out to a 7-0 lead midway through the fourth inning, prior to SLCC getting on the board with RBI singles from
Trey Gambill,
Daniel Gonzalez and
Preston Winget. Gambill also hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.Â
