Facing No. 12 Tallahassee in the NJCAA Division-I Men's Basketball Second Round, SLCC dropped a 94-93 decision, getting eliminated from the tournament on a bizarre-and-disappointing series of events to end the game.SLCC was the NJCAA runner-up in 2022.

A back-and-forth game came down to the final seconds of overtime, where SLCC held a 93-90 lead with 17 seconds remaining. With the final seconds ticking off the clock, Tallahassee's Malachi Davis hit a three-point shot and was fouled with just three second remaining, making the free throw to earn the win.

The game featured 18 lead changes and 10 ties, with the Bruins holding a 43-41 lead at halftime. SLCC struggled throughout the game from the three-point line, going just 14-of-36. The two teams were tied at 83-83 after regulation.Â

Jalen Weaver scored 22 points off the bench to lead Salt Lake, going 7-of-10 from the field.
Jared Garcia finished with 18 points, while
Jaxon Pollard had 14 points.
Alejandro Vasquez posted 11 points.

Salt Lake ended the 2022-23 season with a record of 29-5 overall and 14-4 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. The Bruins claimed the Region 18 championship, along with earning the NJCAA Western District title.Â
