TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 10, 2023) – A spirited run at a region championship fell short on Friday for the Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team.
SLCC played tough but fell just shy in the Region 18 championship game with No. 4 Southern Idaho, losing 60-57. The loss ends Salt Lake's season with a mark of 22-9 overall.
It was the Bruins who came out hot in the title game, holding a 22-14 lead after the first quarter and a 35-27 advantage at halftime. CSI went on a 16-9 run in the third quarter, with the Bruins shooting just 23 percent (3-of-13) during that period.
Finau Tonga finished with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds, while
Aminata Diakite posted 10 points.
Mia Tarver scored 8 points in the loss.
SLCC posted its ninth consecutive 20-win season in the 2022-23 season.
