SLCC Women’s Basketball runs by Southern Nevada

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 16, 2023) - The final weekend of home regular season play started on a positive note for the Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team.
 
SLCC earned a 69-58 win over Southern Nevada, claiming the season series with the Lady Coyotes, 2-1. The victory also boosts Salt Lake to 20-7 overall, with a mark of 10-6 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play keeping the Bruins in third place in the league standings.
 
Salt Lake played strong early, taking a 33-21 halftime lead after outscoring CSN 17-6 in the second quarter. The Bruins actually had their struggles offensively, shooting just 35.4 percent (23-of-65) from the field; however, their 22-of-25 performance at the free-throw line made the difference in the game. SLCC also dominated the boards, holding a 54-33 edge In rebounds and a 16-7 advantage in second-chance points. 
 
Aminata Diakite led the Bruins with 18 points, going 10-of-10 from the line. Allyzee Verdan and Jamia Carter both scored 14 points each. 
 
Salt Lake will celebrate its annual 'Sophomore Day' on Saturday against USU Eastern. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
