TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Thursday, December 28, 2023) – Salt Lake suffered its first setback of the season, falling 73-62 to McClennan CC on the opening day of the Aztec Classic in Pima, Arizona. The Bruins are now 13-1 after the loss.

Former Layton Lancer Preston Squire scored a season-high 19 points, leading two Bruins in double-figure scoring. The freshman forward made 5-of-8 threes and finished with four rebounds in the loss. Bryce Zephir added a dozen points. It was the seventh straight double-digit scoring game for the redshirt sophomore guard out of California.

The Bruins bench was limited to 14 points on the afternoon with nobody scoring more than three.

Salt Lake faces Bismarck State College on Friday, December 29 before taking on Cochise College on Saturday, December 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (MT) on Friday.
