TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 13, 2023) – The NJCAA tournament is underway for the No. 7 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team.
SLCC opened its quest for a national title Monday with a 1-0 win over No. 11 Cowley Community College, scoring a goal shortly after halftime to earn a win. The Bruins are now 16-2 overall after the win.
In a match that went back-and-forth, both teams were tied at halftime. Anna Pinegar broke the tie at halftime, scoring in the 49th minute on an unassisted goal. The stats told the story of how even the match was, with Cowley holding a narrow 12-11 edge in total shots. Both teams took six goals each on goal.
Bruins goalkeeper Aliya Garrett made five saves in the win.
Salt Lake will play No. 2 Seminole State on Tuesday. If SLCC wins, the Bruins will earn a spot in Thursday's NJCAA semifinals.
