TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 14, 2023) – An impressive season is over for the No. 7 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team.
The Bruins were downed by No. 2 Seminole State in pool play of the NJCAA Women's Soccer tournament in Kansas, falling 2-1. The loss ends SLCC's season with a mark of 16-3.
Seminole State took control of the match early, scoring in the 22nd minute to take a lead it would never relinquish. With Seminole adding to its lead shortly after halftime, the Bruins got on the board in the 79th minute as Lexi Vernsey scored an unassisted goal.
Seminole was aggressive throughout the match, finishing with a 20-9 edge in total shots. SLCC goalkeeper Aliya Garrett did make six saves though.
With the loss, Salt Lake ended the season as both the Scenic West Athletic Conference and Region 18 champions.
