No. 4 SLCC Women’s Soccer rolls by Truckee Meadows in Region 18 semis

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 26, 2023) - The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team has earned a berth in the Region 18 championship match.

SLCC earned a 3-0 win over Truckee Meadows in the Region 18 semifinals, advancing to Saturday's championship match after Abbi Sanford posted a hat trick in the win. The Bruins are now 14-1 overall.

Sanford had a postseason performance for the ages, scoring all three goals. Her first goal came off a Kenadee Thomas assist in the 29th minute, then helped the Bruins to a 2-0 lead after converting a Mao Ito assist in the 71stminute. Sanford scored off another Thomas assist in the 79th minute.

SLCC held an 11-6 edge in total shots. Bruins goalkeeper Essence Burrus posted 6 saves in the win.

Salt Lake will advance to play the winner of a match between Snow and USU Eastern on Saturday in the Region 18 championship game. The match is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start.
