TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 28, 2023) – The years may change but the results are still the same for the No. 4 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team.
SLCC posted a 2-0 win over regional rival Snow College in Saturday's Region 18 title match, defending its 2022 Region 18 crown. The victory lifts Salt Lake into next week's NJCAA West District title match, while also lifting the Bruins to 15-1 overall.
Lexi Vernsey helped Salt Lake take an early lead, scoring in the 10th minute to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Carly Brimhall then converted a Braelyn Baclayson assist in the 30th minute to boost SLCC's lead to 2-0.
Essence Burrus made five saves at goal for the Bruins, posting Salt Lake's 12th shutout of the season. SLCC allowed just four goals to Scenic West teams through the Scenic West schedule and
Salt Lake will now await its opponent in next week's West District title match, which will be hosted by the Bruins.
