TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 4, 2023) – The holiday break slowed the momentum of the No. 14 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team.
SLCC fell in a narrow road loss to resume Scenic West Athletic Conference play Wednesday, dropping a 52-51 game at Southern Nevada. Salt Lake is now 13-3 overall after the victory, moving to 3-2 in Scenic West games.
The Bruins jumped out to a double-digit lead after the first quarter, taking a 16-6 lead, and held a 27-20 halftime lead. Southern Nevada clawed back throughout the second half, with the Lady Coyotes converting a layup with seven seconds left to earn the win.
Finau Tonga posted a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds to lead Salt Lake, while
Allyzee Verdan also scored 13 points.
Aminata Diakite finished with 12 points.
The Bruins will travel to Southern California for road games against Community Christian on Friday and Saturday.
