Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 2, 2022) – The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team rolled to a strong victory in the opening game of a home preseason tournament.
 
SLCC earned a 91-74 win over Northwest College in the opening game of the 'Bruin Classic', with the Bruins moving to 7-0 overall. Salt Lake also celebrated the jersey retiring of former star Gary Payton II at halftime of the game.
 
The Bruins and Trappers went back-and-forth throughout the first half, with SLCC taking a narrow 34-29 lead at halftime. Salt Lake went to work offensively in the second half, being the aggressors and going 22-of-26 from the free-throw line. SLCC also forced 15 Northwest turnovers. 
 
Alejandro Vasquez had an outstanding performance, finishing with 24 points and going 10-of-11 at the free-throw line. Andre Mulibea and Jaquan Scott both posted 13 points, while Dwayne Koroma finished with 12 points. Jaxon Pollard also posted 10 points. 
 
Salt Lake will face Central Wyoming at 5:00 p.m. to close the 'Bruin Classic' schedule.
