Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 17, 2022) – The No. 14 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team earned an upset win in a matchup of nationally ranked Scenic West Athletic Conference programs Saturday.
 
SLCC posted a 68-65 decision over No. 3 Southern Idaho, falling behind early but closing the game well late. The Bruins are now 11-1 overall and 3-1 in Scenic West play.
 
Southern Idaho started the game well, posting a 44-32 halftime lead. SLCC cut into the margin slightly after the third quarter, where they trailed 57-47 heading into the final period. 
 
The script changed in the fourth quarter though, with the Bruins shooting 63.4 percent from the field while holding CSI to just 3-of-14. Southern Idaho also went just 0-6 from the three-point line, with Salt Lake taking the lead for good with just 33 second left on an 
Aminata Diakite free throw.
 
Diakite scored 22 points to lead Salt Lake, while 
Jamia Carter scored 10 points. 
Allyzee Verdan posted 9 points in the win. 
 
Salt Lake will return to non-conference play next week, traveling south for a weekend tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada.
