No. 3 SLCC Men’s Basketball downs Western Nebraska

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 18, 2022) – The No. 3 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team opened up a home tournament in impressive fashion Friday.
 
SLCC posted a 97-80 win over Western Nebraska Community College to open a weekend tournament, moving the Bruins to 2-0 in a rare three-game week for Salt Lake. The Bruins are now 5-0 overall.
 
It was Western Nebraska who actually led at halftime, holding a narrow 47-45 advantage, prior to the Bruins shooting 65.5 percent in the second half (19-of-29). SLCC's defense also heated up as the game went on, with Salt Lake eventually forcing 23 Western Nebraska turnovers.
 
Alejandro Vasquez led the Bruins with 21 points, while Hunter Erickson scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Jared Garcia finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. 
 
Salt Lake will play Eastern Arizona at 3:00 p.m. at the Lifetime Activities Center on Saturday.
