Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 11, 2022) - The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball program is three games into the 2022-23 season and things are off to a perfect start, at least on the schedule.
Â
SLCC is now 3-0 after a 122-80 win over North Platte College Friday, giving the Bruins a perfect mark in a weekend of games in Colorado. The Bruins downed Northeastern Junior College on Thursday.
Salt Lake coach
Kyle Taylor said the team's offense was prolific throughout the game.
"We played a complete game for the first time this year," he said. "We put it together on offense and defense and didn't let up. Still a lot to improve on, but overall our best performance so far early in this season. It was good for us to go on the road and play two quality Region 9 teams, and test our toughness."
Â
In a game that was an offensive shootout, the Bruins shot 62.3 percent from the field, with Salt Lake scoring 58 points-in-the-paint.
Hunter Erickson led SLCC with 37 points on 13-of-26 shooting.
Â
Other strong contributors for the Bruins included
Jaquan Scott scoring 19 points and
Alejandro Vasquez had 12 points.
Dwayne Koroma posted 11 points and
Tyson Garff finished with 10 points.Â
"
Hunter Erickson got it rolling from the three-point line tonight, which was really good to see," he said. "I think he hit eight three-point shots and finished with 33 points.
Jaquan Scott had another efficient night scoring and rebounding, and
Dwayne Koroma played well again.
Tyson Garff and
Andre Mulibea got it going from three-point range, which is much needed for our group. Everyone scored for the third straight game as well."
Â
Salt Lake will host No. 2 Florida SouthWestern in a game on Monday. The game will tip inside the Lifetime Activities Center at 5:00 p.m.
