TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 12, 2022) – A critical week of Scenic West Athletic Conference play couldn't have started any better for the No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Women's Soccer team.

The Bruins opened a week of road matches in sunny Las Vegas Wednesday, earning a 12-0 win over the College of Southern Nevada to move to 2-0 against the Lady Coyotes this season. SLCC is now 8-1 overall and 7-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference matches, keeping Salt Lake at the top of the league standings.

Pyper Cuff opened the scoring just 2:51 into the match, with
Kenna Sparks posting a goal in the 13
th minute.
Aly Starbuck scored in the 24
th minute and
Saige Stuart scored in the 25
th minute to give the Bruins a 4-0 lead. Other scores in the first half included Stuart scoring in the 29
th minute to give SLCC a 5-0 halftime lead.

The scoring kept moving in the second half as Salt Lake's
Lexi Vernsey scored a pair of goals to boost the SLCC advantage.

Emily Auman,
Jordan Roe and
Amelia Suma all scored goals in the second half.

Salt Lake dominated the match statistically, earning a 37-1 advantage in total shots. SLCC took 25 shots-on-goal in the win. Starbuck and Sparks both took a team-high five shots each.Â

Salt Lake will play an important match on Saturday, playing at No. 10 Snow College in a match that will have significant implications in the Scenic West regular season title race.Â
