TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 3, 2021) – The No. 14 Salt Lake Community College Volleyball program played in friendly territory for the first time Friday, with successful results coming in-tow.
SLCC opened the annual "Crystal 'Inn'vitational" tournament with a pair of strong wins, earning a 3-0 win over Casper College and a 3-0 victory over Northeastern Junior College. The victories boosted the Bruins to 7-3 overall.
Salt Lake will face off against No. 8 Central Wyoming and Western Nebraska on Saturday.
Salt Lake 3, Casper College 0: SLCC earned a 25-18, 25-12, 25-11 victory over Casper College to open the day.
The Bruins played strongly on offense, finishing with a hitting percentage of .286 and 38 total kills. Salt Lake also posted 10 aces in the win, with
Laura Fiabane posting 6 individual aces.
Sandora Sasaki finished with 10 kills to lead Salt Lake.
Fiabane posted 31 assists in the win.
Salt Lake 3, Northeastern 0: The Bruins posted a 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 win to end the day.
SLCC posted a .339 hitting percentage, holding a 52-27 edge in kills in the match. Sasaki posted 15 kills, while
Sunny Brown and
Jasmyne Love also posted 13 kills.
Laura Fiabane posted 44 assists, also posting 14 digs.
