TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 18, 2021) - The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team couldn't have opened the 2021 postseason any better, earning a shutout victory in the opening match of the Region 18 tournament.
Playing at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, the Bruins earned a 7-0 win over the College of Southern Nevada, advancing to Wednesday's Region 18 championship match. SLCC is now 11-1 with the victory.
Salt Lake started strong in the match, scoring in the 23rd minute on a
Emma Fry goal. The Bruins added another goal just moments later, thanks to
Quincy Richards, with
Aspen Peterson posting a goal in the 38th minute. Fry added another goal before the half to give SLCC a 4-0 lead at the intermission.
Cassidy Adams,
Anna Pinegar and
Jaycie Greene all scored goals in the second half.
The Bruins dominated the game offensively, thanks to a 31-3 edge in total shots and a 19-2 margin in shots-on-goal. Salt Lake had six players with multiple shots-on-goal.
SLCC will play No. 4 at 11:00 a.m. for the Region 18 championship.Â
