TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 27, 2021) – The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team earned a strong win on 'Sophomore Day' to close out the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season.
SLCC earned a 65-54 win over the College of Southern Idaho, powering to a strong halftime lead and holding on for an impressive win. Salt Lake went 16-4 overall to end the regular season, finishing with an 11-4 mark in Scenic West play.
Southern Idaho jumped out to a 23-22 lead after the opening quarter, with SLCC responding to take a 35-31 lead at halftime. The Bruins posted a 19-10 edge in the third quarter to open a double-digit lead heading to the final period.
SLCC played suffocating defense in the game, holding CSI to a shooting percentage of 35.1 percent and scoring 21 points-off-turnovers. Salt Lake also held a 29-15 edge in bench points.
Naelle Bernard posted 22 points, while
Awa Sidibe scored 15 points.
Aminata Diakite scored 11 points, with
Leilani Augmon scoring 10 points.
Salt Lake will play next in the Region 18 tournament in Richfield, which is scheduled to begin April 8.
