No. 11 SLCC Men's Basketball outlasts in-state rival Snow

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 20, 2021) - A series of back-and-forth momentum swings led to the No. 11 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team earning a critical road win at an in-state rival Saturday.

SLCC picked up a 91-89 victory at Snow College Saturday, surviving a strong second-half run by the Badgers to earn the road win. The victory lifts Salt Lake to an overall record of 11-1 and 4-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Bruins coach Kyle Taylor said the strength of the Scenic West Athletic Conference continues to showcase itself.

"Tonight was an unbelievable game; the game of basketball is crazy," he said. "I tip my hat to Snow, they were terrific. We had them down 24 points and they never flinched. Their poise and ability to keep their heads and just make shots was phenomenal. Coach Nielsen does a fantastic job with his team; they are tough and disciplined."

Salt Lake led by as many as 24 points midway through the second half, with Snow making a run late to take a late lead. The Bruins put together a comeback with Felix Lemetti hitting a shot to reclaim a SLCC lead, with the Bruins holding Snow to an offensive struggle from the field late.

"I'm proud of how we finished," said Taylor. "We turned a 24-point lead into a 4-point deficit with a minute left and kept battling. Felix Lemetti hit a monster shot to put us up two and our defense did the rest."

Marvin Price finished with a team-high 25 points, converting on 9-of-13 shots from the field. Felix Lemetti and Quincy McGriff both scored 14 points, while Jay-Allen Tovar scored 11 points.

Salt Lake will play on the road in a pair of games next weekend, playing at the College of Southern Idaho and in-state rival USU Eastern.
