TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 6, 2021) – There have been many ups-and-downs during the Fall 2021 season for the No. 5 Salt Lake Community College Women's Soccer program.
Regardless of their trials, SLCC continued to find a way to win and successfully claimed a berth in the upcoming NJCAA championships, earning a 2-1 overtime win over Arizona Western College in the NJCAA West District championships at Westminster College in Salt Lake on Saturday. With the win, the Bruins are now 14-3-1 overall.
After going through a defensive standoff in the first half, SLCC's
Aly Starbuck lifted the Bruins to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 47
th minute. Arizona Western tied the match minutes later, with
Ashlyn Hall scoring the game-winning, unassisted goal in the 102
nd minute.

Cassie Ulrich said the match was indicative of how Salt Lake has played their season.
"This group has gotten good at overcoming adversity," she said. "Our players continue to find ways to compete, and their confidence and unity has lifted us to accomplish great things in tough moments."
SLCC held a 16-4 advantage in shots throughout the match, with Arizona Western goalkeeper Tia Kelk making eight saves. SLCC goalkeeper

Salt Lake will wait for the announcement of its seed and opponents in the upcoming NJCAA tournament, which will be held starting Nov. 15 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
