Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 5, 2021) - The Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball program suffered a tough defeat in the final game of a Texas-based preseason tournament.
SLCC lost a 57-54 decision to Odessa College, with the Bruins posting a furious comeback after trailing 22-6 at the end of the first quarter. Salt Lake is now 1-2 with the loss.
Turnovers plagued the Bruins through the game, with SLCC committing 26 turnovers and Odessa scoring 25 points off those miscues. Salt Lake came roaring back in the second quarter, outscoring Odessa 19-7 in the period to trail just 29-25 at halftime. The Bruins then tied the game at 42-42 heading into the fourth quarter.
Sephora Kayolo led Salt Lake with 12 points, while
Allyzee Verdan and
Diarrah Sissoko both scored 11 points.
Salt Lake will return home to host a preseason tournament next weekend. SLCC will play Eastern Wyoming on Friday at 5:00 p.m. inside the Lifetime Activities Center, followed up by a 3:00 p.m. game with Western Wyoming on Saturday.Â
