TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 9, 2021) - Over the past month, the No. 6 Salt Lake Community College Volleyball program has calmly met every challenge its faced, utilizing an ever-expanding team chemistry to face a variety of adversities.
Hosting a nationally-ranked in-state rival at home Saturday, the Bruins hoped their self-confidence and playing at home would be the difference in a matchup with No. 4 Snow College. SLCC used the home-court advantage to earn a 3-0 victory over Snow, winning by set scores of 25-23, 27-25, 25-19. Salt Lake is now 19-3 overall with the win, sporting a mark of 5-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Late-set heroics played a large role in the victory, with Salt Lake pulling to a late win in two sets. In the first set, both SLCC and Snow were tied at 23-23 before back-to-back attack errors helped the Bruins to the victory. Then in the second set, both teams went back-and-forth before Salt Lake delivered the winning point on an
Anastasia Tuifua kill.
Tuifua led the Bruins with 15 kills, while
Laura Fiabane contributed 36 assists.
Hikialani Kaohelaulii finished with 11 digs for Salt Lake.
SLCC will host Southern Idaho on Wednesday inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
