No. 5 SLCC Men's Basketball powers past Central Wyoming

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 29, 2021) - The No. 5 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team stayed undefeated on the young 2021 season, with the Bruins earning their first road win.

The Bruins picked up an 85-73 win over Central Wyoming in the first game of a two-game weekend tournament at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyo. The victory moves SLCC to 3-0 overall.

Salt Lake took a strong 51-35 lead at halftime, holding on defensively in the second half for the victory. The Bruins had a stellar night offensively, shooting 51 percent from the field (31-of-60). SLCC's Marvin Price led his team with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Bruins coach Kyle Taylor said the road win was an example of his team's multi-dimensional build.

"We built a 20-point lead midway through the first half and just kind of kept them at bay the rest of the night," he said. "I was disappointed we couldn't expand our lead, but give Central Wyoming credit; they played hard, battled on the boards and hit timely shots to hang around. We are going to have to play with more discipline and toughness tomorrow night."

Salt Lake will play No. 17 Western Wyoming on Saturday, with the game tipping off at 6:30 p.m. SLCC will return home on February 5 for a home game against Eastern Wyoming.
