TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 4, 2020) – The No. 23 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team opened Scenic West Athletic Conference play with a flurry on Saturday, earning a big home victory.

The Bruins picked up a 109-83Â win over Colorado Northwestern Community College Saturday, leading early and never looking back in the impressive win. The victory lifts SLCC's overall record to 15-4 overall and 1-0 in Scenic West play.

From the get-go, SLCC showcased its crisp play since the holiday break by taking a 59-39 halftime lead, shooting 46.3 percent from the field and making 9-of-21 attempts from three-point range. The first-half control told the story of the game, with Salt Lake leading by as many as 33 points in the game.

Kyle Taylor said the win was a good start for his club in league play.
"We shared the ball great tonight, getting 27 assists on 40 made baskets," he said. "We moved the ball and shot the ball really well tonight as a team. It was a great team win."

There were six different Bruins who scored in double-figures in the game, with
Ed Chang leading the way with 23 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three-point range.
Justice Hill finished with 17 points, while
Asa McCord posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Adam Hess scored 15 points on a 5-of-8 performance from distance, with
Jay Allen-Tovar also finishing with 15 points.
Dylan Belquist was the other double-digit scorer, finishing with 10 points off-the-bench.Â

Salt Lake will host the College of Southern Idaho on Thursday inside the Lifetime Activities Center and will travel to play at Snow College on Saturday.
