TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 25, 2019) - Playing a new opponent for the first time is always exciting but it is especially exciting when it is a new program in the growing Scenic West Athletic Conference.
The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College men's soccer team will do just that this weekend as they travel to Reno to play newly-minted Scenic West member Truckee Meadows Community College. The Lizards are off to a good start in their first year of competition, giving Salt Lake another reason to look forward to this weekend's road match - great competition.
After a week where the Bruins earned a 2-1 win at Snow College and a 4-1 win at Southern Nevada, SLCC coach
Mark Davis said his team is excited for the challenge the Lizards will present on Saturday in northern Nevada.
"We are excited to go to Reno this weekend," he said. "We have heard good things about Truckee Meadows and are happy they have joined our conference. Our teams have had really good trainings over the week."
Truckee Meadows has made a strong start in their first year of competition with a 5-2-2 overall record and a mark of 1-2-1 in the Scenic West. TMCCÂ has earned a tie with Southern Nevada, who was receiving votes in the national polls at the time, and a win against Colorado Northwestern.Â
Salt Lake's match against Truckee Meadows will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in Reno. The Bruins will play a pair of matches on the road next weekend, traveling to play at USU Eastern and Colorado Northwestern.Â
