No. 13 SLCC Men's Basketball rebounds with win over Western Nebraska

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 9, 2019) – The No. 13 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team responded from a tough loss on Friday, earning a victory to close Saturday's Region 9/18 Challenge.

Playing inside the Lifetime Activities Center, the Bruins earned a 101-92 win over Western Nebraska Community College, avenging an overtime defeat the evening before. The win boosts Salt Lake's overall record to 3-1

Salt Lake trailed at halftime, 44-42, before going on a mammoth run in the second-half to earn the victory. A Matt Gray layup with 17:42 left in the game is what gave SLCC its first lead at 49-48. The Bruins shot 67.65 percent in the half (23-of-34), also holding Western Nebraska to a shooting percentage of just 47.2 percent. SLCC also shot 52 percent from three-point range in the win.

Asa McCord finished with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting in a double-double performance, followed by Adam Hess's 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting. James Lee contributed 14 points, while Matt Gray finished with 13 points.

The Bruins will take to the road to play in a tournament hosted by Scenic West rival Snow College this upcoming weekend. The three-game tournament will start with a Thursday matchup against Central Wyoming.
