No. 4 SLCC Men's Soccer returns home to face Southern Nevada, Snow

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 9, 2019) - With just two weeks left in the regular season, the No. 4 Salt Lake Community College men's soccer team has much to be thinking of.

First off, the Bruins have maintained a high national ranking at No. 4, setting them up for prime position nationally; second, SLCC is undefeated at 7-0 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and needs only to pick up two more wins over the coming weekend to clinch the league's top spot; third, Salt Lake is returning home to host a pair of critical matches against the College of Southern Nevada and in-state rival Snow College. All of this and more has SLCC coach Mark Davis thinking of the situation his team currently sits in.

"We have a massive weekend coming up against Southern Nevada and Snow College," he said. "The teams will be ready to compete and we are mostly healthy. We are happy to be back home home and we hope we get a lot of support from the Bruin family."

Salt Lake is the only undefeated team in the Scenic West, with Snow College sitting behind at 4-1-1. With the Bruins sitting at 21 points and Snow at 13 points, a win for SLCC on Thursday against Southern Nevada will force Snow to have to win out in order to best the Bruins, along with Salt Lake losing out.

The playoff scenarios that loom force an additional focus for SLCC, particularly against a Southern Nevada team Thursday who has not performed in league season up to potential. The Coyotes are just 1-2-3 in league play but have finished in ties with top competition, including Snow just this past weekend. The Bruins earned a 4-1 win over Southern Nevada in their first matchup. Likewise, Salt Lake defeated Snow College, 2-1, in their first matchup.

Salt Lake will return home to play Southern Nevada at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins will host Snow College at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. SLCC's final Scenic West match is scheduled for Oct. 18 against Truckee Meadows Community College.
