TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 12, 2019) – The No. 8 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team fell in a Scenic West Athletic Conference road match on Saturday.
The Bruins fell 3-0 to defending national champion Southern Idaho, losing by set scores of 18-25, 17-25, 16-25. The loss drops Salt Lake to 20-7 overall and 3-2 in Scenic West play.
SLCC struggled to gain momentum throughout the match as the Golden Eagles held a 39-30 advantage in kills and forced 26 Bruin errors. Southern Idaho also finished with 7 aces in the win.
Allie Beck led Salt Lake individually with 8 kills, followed by
Ariane Pola's 7 kills.
Bruna Correa had a team-high 14 assists and
Sammi Johnston paced SLCC with 12 digs.
Salt Lake will travel for a pair of matches next weekend. First, the Bruins will travel to play Colorado Northwestern Community College on Thursday before facing USU Eastern on Saturday. SLCC's next home match is scheduled for Oct. 24.
