Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 17, 2019) - The No. 10 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team opened a two-match Scenic West Athletic Conference road trip with a flurry, earning a sweeping victory.
The Bruins earned a 3-0 win over Colorado Northwestern Community College, earning close set victories of 25-22, 25-23, 25-14. The win lifts Salt Lake's overall record to 21-7 overall and 4-2 in Scenic West play, keeping the Bruins in a tie for second place in the league standings.
SLCC found a way to earn close victories in the first two sets, finding advantage in critical moments. Statistically, the Bruins controlled the match with outstanding individual play. Offensively,
Ariane Pola earned 13 kills and 6 blocks, with
Rachael Warren scoring on 9 blocks.
Sammi Johnston and
Allie Beck both finished with 7 kills. Defensively, Holland Vande Merwe led the Bruins with 22 digs, while Johnston and Beck combined for another 22 digs.
Salt Lake will travel to play No. 17 USU Eastern on Saturday. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. in Price. SLCC's next home match is scheduled for Oct. 24 against the College of Southern Nevada.Â
