TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 12, 2019) – All season long, the No. 5 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team has focused on defending their 2018 Scenic West Athletic Conference crown.
Saturday, Salt Lake's dream came true as the Bruins earned a 1-0 win over in-state rival No. 9 Snow College to claim back-to-back Scenic West titles. The win lifts SLCC's overall record to 10-0-1 and 8-0-1 in the Scenic West.
In a match that was a defensive battle from every angle, SLCC's
Baylie Saunders scored the lone goal of the match on a free kick in the 27th minute to lift Salt Lake to the victory. The Bruins held an edge in offensive statistics, finishing with an 8-4 advantage in shots. Salt Lake goalkeeper
Siuana Pauni also played a strong role in the victory as she made 2 saves in the match.
The win cements Salt Lake's spot as the top seed in the upcoming Region 18 championships. SLCC will close the 2019 regular season with a match against Truckee Meadows Community College on Saturday at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman.
