TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 10, 2019) - The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College men's soccer team might have forgotten what Zions Bank Stadium looked like in their several-week road trip but they sure didn't forget what victory felt like.
SLCC moved to 10-0-1 on the season and 8-0-0 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference with a 3-0 win over the College of Southern Nevada on Thursday. The match was the first time the Bruins had played at home since September 14 in a blowout win over Colorado Northwestern Community College.
Salt Lake struck early in the win over CSN, with
Samuel Owusu scoring a goal on a
Daniel Mulholland assist in the 14th minute to give SLCC an early 1-0 lead.
Omar Gomez stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute with a penalty kick. Gomez scored the match's lone second-half goal, scoring in the 71st minute on a
Jonathan Castro assist.
The Bruins held an 11-3 advantage in shots in the match, with SLCC goalkeeper
Isaac Roy making a pair of saves in the shutout victory. Gomez had a team-high 5 shots in the win.
Salt Lake will play in-state rival Snow College at Zions Bank Stadium at 11:00 a.m. After Saturday, SLCC will have just one home match remaining - a season-ending match on Oct. 19 against Truckee Meadows Community College.Â
