TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 1, 2018) - The No. 15 Salt Lake Community College volleyball program should have no problem enjoying the remainder of the Labor Day weekend.
The Bruins earned a clean sweep for the second consecutive weekend, rolling to victories over Central Wyoming College (25-12, 25-15, 25-13) and Missouri State University-West Plains (25-14, 25-15, 23-25, 19-25, 15-13). The strong weekend, which included two victories over nationally-ranked programs, leaves Salt Lake with a 9-0 record after two weekends of the season.
Salt Lake will play in its third weekend of tournaments next season, playing in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Idaho. SLCC's first match in the tourney will start on Sept. 7 against Southwestern Oregon Community College.
Salt Lake 3, Central Wyoming 0: SLCCÂ flexed its offensive muscle, leading to an easy sweep of Central Wyoming.
The Bruins held a 44-22 advantage in kills, also serving up 10 aces in the victory. Salt Lake led 13-4 in the first set, earning an easy victory. Central Wyoming got as close as 19-14 in the second set, but SLCC went on a 3-0 run to take control of the set.Â
Ryley Daniel led Salt Lake with 10 kills, also serving up 4 aces.
Hellen Lacava finished with 9 aces, contributing 10 digs for Salt Lake.
Bruna Correa finished with 36 of Salt Lake's 40 assists.

Jensyn Turner had a kill to give the Bruins a lead. Then, on match point,
Hellen Lacava had a service ace to give SLCC the dramatic victory. Salt Lake won the first two sets of the match with ease, before Missouri State came back with the win.Â
The Bruins held an 82-58 advantage in kills, controlling the match offensively. However, similar to last weekend, Salt Lake struggled with serving, with 13 service errors in the match.Â
