Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 17, 2018) - The 2018 'Bruin Classic' tournament ended just the way Salt Lake Community College fans like it; with the Bruins on top, enjoying the spoils of victory.
The No. 8 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team earned a 102-86 victory over Umpqua College Saturday, moving to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in their second preseason tournament of the season. The Bruins used success from three-point range to power to the victory, finishing with 10 three-point shots.
It was Umpqua who led early, taking an 11-4 lead early in the first half. However, the Bruins would take the lead on a
Cameron Mack three-point shot with 11:42 left in the half, never relinquishing the lead from there. The Bruins would consistently maintain a double-digit lead from there, using a breakout performance at the free-throw line to earn the victory. Salt Lake made 22 free-throws, while Umpqua had only 12 attempts in the game.Â
Mack had a huge performance for SLCC, finishing with 33 points on 11-of-15 shooting and a 6-of-8 performance from three-point range.
Daron Henson finished with 14 points, while
Jared Holman had 13 points.
Hunter Schofield was Salt Lake's other double-digit scorer, finishing with 10 points.Â
Salt Lake will host a pair of games over the Thanksgiving weekend, as the program hosts its annual holiday tourney. The Bruins will play Northeastern Junior College on Friday at 7:00 p.m., while facing Laramie County Community College on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.Â
