TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 13, 2018) - A two-week layoff meant little to the No. 15 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer program, as the Bruins shook off any signs of rust in a conference road victory.
Salt Lake earned a 2-0 win at Southern Nevada, lifting their mark in the Scenic West Athletic Conference to 5-1-1. The Bruins now sit at 10-1-1 overall.Â
Baylie Saunders got SLCCÂ on the board almost immediately, scoring a goal in the third minute to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Salt Lake would then play defense for most the match, until
Madison Schmidt picked up another goal with 64:13 on the clock.
While the Bruins held a 7-3 advantage in shots throughout the match, Bruins goalkeeper McKena Eaves earned the win by picking up two key saves. The win was Salt Lake's ninth shutout of the season.
Salt Lake will play again on Wednesday, as the Bruins host Snow College at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. Salt Lake will then play at USU Eastern to close the regular season on Friday. Â
