Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 28, 2017) - All season long, the Salt Lake Community College have known their score was on the left side of the final tally, indicating a Bruins win.
Unfortunately for Salt Lake, the Bruins had to taste defeat for the first time this season, opening the second half of the season with a 93-77 loss to Mesa Community College in the opening round of the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout. Mesa held a 45-34 halftime lead, with Salt Lake never leading past the midway point of the first half.
Mesa finished by shooting 60.7 percent from the field, also shooting 60 percent from the three-point line (12-of-20). Conversely, Salt Lake struggled offensively, finishing with a shooting percentage of 42.9 percent.
Josh Colon led the Bruins with 15 points, while
Bushmen Ebet, Dalven Brushier and Jordan Gilliam finished with 12 points.
The Bruins will play a game Friday in a losers' consolation bracket game.
