Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 3, 2017) - For the nation's fifth-ranked team, starting the season 2-0 is always a nice appetizer to open the meal of a season, and the Salt Lake Community College Bruins have started the 2017-18 women's basketball season with a rather delicious option.
The Bruins rolled to an 87-52 win over Eastern Wyoming Friday, completing a two-game swing through the state. Salt Lake held the Lancers to 42.3 percent shooting, forcing 15 turnovers along the way. This is the second game in as many chances where SLCC has forced a team into double-digit turnover numbers.
Salt Lake held a 44-24 lead at halftime after taking advantage of foul shots and points-off-turnovers. The Bruins scored 20 points from Lancer turnovers, finishing with a total rebounding advantage of 44-31 to add to the tally of riches.
Ashley Scoggin led the Bruins in scoring for the second consecutive game, finishing with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Mik'ala Maio finished with 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting.
Tia Hay also finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.Â
The Bruins will have a few days off before returning to play on Friday, Nov. 10 in a tournament hosted in Gillette, Wyo. The Bruins will play both Sheridan College and Gillette College in the tourney.Â
