TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 25, 2017) – The opportunity the Salt Lake Community College Bruin men's soccer program has waited all season for has finally arrived- postseason play.
Â
The Bruins will travel to the bright lights and warm temperatures of Las Vegas this weekend for play in the Region 18 tournament, hosted by College of Southern Nevada. The Bruins will be one of four Scenic West teams taking part in the tournament, after finishing with an overall record of 10-5-1 and 8-4 in league play.
Â
After defeating Southern Nevada 2-0 in Thursday's season finale, the Bruins had a legitimate shot to host the region tourney. However, Southern Nevada was able to earn a victory in its final match Saturday to finish league play with an 8-3-1 record, downing SLCC's chances.
Â
The four-team tourney will feature Southern Nevada as the one-seed, followed by SLCC at the two-seed. The third-seed is Snow College, while the final seed will be Utah State Eastern. The tournament will be a single-elimination tourney, hosted on the CSN campus.
Â
The Bruins went 2-1 against the Badgers during the season, earning a 3-1 victory at home to go with a 2-1 double-overtime loss. Salt Lake defeated Snow 2-0 on the road on Oct. 14. The Bruins will enter the tourney on a streak, boasting a five-match winning streak entering the tourney.

SLCC coach
Mark Davis said the men's program has much to be excited about after a breakthrough season.
Â
"We are excited about how the season has gone," he said. "I am proud of our team has battled hard every single day. I feel that we are playing our best soccer right now. We are very organized and are putting balls in the back of the net.
Â
Snow closed the season by going 2-3 in its last five matches, including a 2-1 loss at Southern Nevada to end the regular season. The Badgers finished the regular season at 11-6 overall, with a 7-5 record in SWAC play.
Â
The prizes that lie ahead for the Bruins include a chance at competing for a national title, provided they are able to meander their way through the Region 18 competition. If the Bruins defeat Snow on Friday, a repeat matchup with College of Southern Nevada remains likely.
Â
The Bruins and Badgers will play at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, with the winner advancing to play a match for the region title on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. A recap of each match will be available at slccbruins.com.
