Carol Grasso named the SWAC Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks

SALT LAKE CITY – Following another solid weekend in the Crystal "Inn"vitational, outside hitter Carol Grasso has been named once again the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Named as the POW for the second time in as many weeks, Grasso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led SLCC to a weekend split (2-2) over some of the top teams in the country as three of the four Lady Bruin opponents are ranked top 20 nationally.

In four matches played, Grasso racked up an astounding 69 kills (4.92 per set) while hitting .345. She also recorded seven service aces while cashing in 57 digs on the defensive side.

Now the reigning NJCAA First Team All-American Grasso and the rest of the SLCC volleyball team will prepare to hit the road to Twin Falls, Ida., to participate in the STARR Corporation Invitational Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-6.

Friday matches for SLCC will at 1 p.m. against Central Arizona College and 5 p.m. against Hutchinson College. Saturday will be 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. against Casper College then Northwest College.
