The SLCC Men's and Women's Basketball teams will take on Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival College of Southern Idaho (CSI) TONIGHT at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Twin Falls, ID. The No. 16-ranked SLCC Women's team (13-6, 4-2 SWAC) has won three straight contests heading into tonight's matchup with the CSI Golden Eagles (11-10, 5-2 SWAC), all three games coming on the road. The Bruins will close out a five-game road trip this week, following up tonight's game against CSI with a trip to Coeur d'Alene, ID for a rematch with No. 2 North Idaho College (21-1, 5-1 SWAC) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. MST). SLCC has won six of its last eight contests and jumped two spots in this week's NJCAA Top 25 Polls.
The Bruin Women are led in scoring by sophomore center Rachel Morris (Mesquite, NV) with 12.6 points per game. Second on the team in scoring are sophomore guard Katie Richens (Roosevelt, UT) and freshman guard Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT), each averaging 9.0 points per outing. The Bruins average 61.4 points scored per contest and are allowing just 54.1 points to the opposition on average.
The SLCC Men's team (18-2, 6-0 SWAC) is on a tear, currently owning a 14-game win streak. The Bruins will do battle with fierce rival CSI (15-6, 3-4 SWAC) on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. SLCC dispatched the Eagles in convincing fashion 89-73 on Jan. 5 at Bruin Arena, and the Bruins are the only team in the SWAC without a conference loss. The Bruins are in the midst of a five-game road swing that SLCC will close out on Saturday in Coeur d'Alene, ID against No. 13-ranked North Idaho College (19-3, 6-1 SWAC). The Bruins defeated the Cardinals in stunning fashion on Jan. 3 at Bruin Arena, rallying from a 15-point second half deficit to sneak out the 75-74 win.
The Bruin Men are led in scoring by sophomore guard Skyler Halford (Orem, UT) with 18.9 points per outing. Second on the team in scoring is freshman forward Sai Tummala (Phoenix, AZ) with 14.3 points per contest, followed by sophomore forward JuWan Buchanan (Seattle, WA) with 12.0 points per game. The Bruins average 86.6 points scored per game and are allowing just 60.6 points per game on average to the opposition.
