Parker Van Dyke, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, is entering his first season as an assistant coach for the Salt Lake Community College men’s basketball program under head coach Dave Rice.
Prior to joining SLCC, Van Dyke had a prolific basketball playing career.
Van Dyke attended East High School where he was the 2012 4A MVP, statewide leading scorer, 2x time first team all state member, and a McDonald’s All American nominee. He graduated in 2013 as East High’s all time leading scorer.
Following his prep career, Van Dyke went on to play at the University of Utah. At the conclusion of his Freshman season, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Alabama Birmingham Mission. Upon returning home, he played 3 more seasons for the Utes. A multi year starter and a team captain, Van Dyke helped lead the Utes to three straight top 4 finishes in the Pac 12. Van Dyke finished his senior season top 5 in the conference in 3 pointers made and 3 point percentage. He was a 3x member of the Pac 12 All-Academic team and voted Utah’s 2019 Most Inspirational Male Athlete. His buzzer beater vs. UCLA was voted as the Play of the Year and was also the #1 play on Sportscenter’s Top 10 plays.
Van Dyke graduated from the University of Utah in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
Following his college career, Van Dyke went on to play professionally for 7 seasons. He played 5 seasons internationally with stops in Mexico, Estonia, Germany, and Spain. He finished his Pro playing career in the NBA G League as a player for the Austin Spurs and the Salt Lake City Stars.
