Chris Tellesbo enters his fourth season as an assistant volleyball coach at Salt Lake Community College under head coach Shay Goulding Meurer. Tellesbo helped oversee an SLCC program that rose to third in the NJCAA rankings during the 2023 campaign.
Salt Lake won the 2023 Scenic West regular season crown with an unblemished 10-0 conference record and finished the year 27-7 overall, including a 19-match winning streak. The Bruins returned to the NJCAA national tournament for the second time under Tellesbo after winning the Region 18 and Rocky Mountain District championships.
SLCC is 79-17 (.823) overall and 27-3 (.900) in conference action, with Tellesbo offering instruction.
Over the past three seasons, 21 Bruins have earned NJCAA All-Academic recognition, and three have received All-America recognition. Eight players from Salt Lake’s 2023 team transferred to four-year institutions.
A University of Utah graduate, Tellesbo has two bachelors degrees in Physics and Applied Mathematics and a Master’s in Physics. He focused on astrophysics and planetary dynamics and spent a semester interning for NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center.
Tellesbo leads SLCC volleyball in scouting, recruiting, and operations while serving as the program’s academic advisor. On the floor, he is the team’s offensive coordinator and service analyst.
