Salt Lake Community College Cheer Team Tryouts  
When: May 14th - 16th, 2026

• May 14th – 7-9PM
• May 15th – 6:30PM – 10PM 1st round
• May 16th – 10AM final cuts if needed

Where: SLCC Taylorsville Campus (Lifetime Activities Center)  - Park in the parking Lot U outside of the LAC building.
                         Parking is $2 at the kiosk have your license plate number ready when paying for parking.  
What to wear:

• Girls – Athletic clothing in bruin colors (blue, white and black) and athletic shoes.  Be game day ready with hair pulled back and a bow!
• Guys – Athletic clothing in bruin colors (blue, white and black) and athletic shoes.  

Requirements: Tumbling  

• Girls – minimum requirement of a standing tuck and round off handspring tuck.
• Guys – preferred standing tuck and round off handspring stuck (can be waived for exceptional stunting skills)
• Elite tumblers can show an extra pass to opt out of the stunting elite.

Stunting

• Co-ed – Required toss target pull heel stretch with a double down dismount and 2 elite stunts with a transition ending in a flipping dismount.
• All Girl – Full up to the top pull heel stretch with a double down dismount and 2 elite stunts with a transition ending in a flipping dismount.

Dance  

• Strong energy with proper motion placement.

SLCC Competitive Cheer Squad
The Salt Lake Community College Cheer team is a competitive program that also has a strong game day presence! We participate in NCA College nationals in Daytona Florida. We cheer on our nationally ranked volleyball team, soccer teams and basketball teams. We pride ourselves on being well rounded cheerleaders on and off the mat. We are looking for athletes who are hardworking, self-driven and have a team first mentality!
 
Practice - All Practices are mandatory for all squad members. Team members are encouraged to regularly attend open gyms and condition throughout the season.
 
Scholarships – Scholarship opportunities will be available to squad members. The amount you receive will be based on years spent on the team, Grades and if you’re in good standings with the college and coaches.
 
Grades – All members must maintain a 2.0 GPA. Failure to do so may result in loss of scholarship and or participation on comp/ game days.
 
Summer Practices / Expectations – We will have challenges throughout the summer that will be submitted through band. Attending open gyms will be the easiest way to complete your challenges. We will be doing multiple parades this year – Pride Parade June 8th, Herriman days June 27th, Taylorsville parade June 27th, Draper Days parade July 18th summer BBQ/ Swim party following the parade. Members are required to attend at least two parades.
 
Work week / Camp JULY 20th-23rd and camp will be JULY 25th – 27th in Las Vegas.
 
Competition team – We will be having MAT tryouts for all our competition teams this year. Everyone is required to tryout. Placements will be given with alternate positions. Mat placement can change throughout the season.
 
Game day – Games will be assigned to you. All games that you are assigned to are mandatory. Your expected to arrive on time and ready to perform.
 
Cost- $400 due July 1st for your spirit pack.  
 
Fundraising - We will have multiple fundraisers throughout the year that every member is REQUIED to participate in. This allows us to keep costs to a minimum for squad members.
 
Fall/ Spring semester – Members are required to be full time students unless they have received approval from coaches and must schedule classes around practice times.
Practice and events are often time scheduled during school breaks/ holidays. These times are still required by members to attend.
 
Practices will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:30-3:30PM
