Herriman, Utah- No. 16 Salt Lake Men's Soccer won their first game of the regular season as the Bruins defeated the No. 13 ranked Matadors of Arizona Western 3-0. Salt Lake scored in an instant as they won a free kick to open the game. CB Esteban Fernandes buried the free kick in the top corner to give the Bruins a goal in the opening minute. 

Midway through the second half, University of Kentucky transfer Mekhi Haughton-Parris won possession of the ball inside midfield and saw that the keeper was off his line. Mekhi launched a shot that rainbowed over the keeper's reach and doubled Salt Lake's lead.

With three seconds left in the game Matt Hagan found the back of the net to close out the Bruins victory. 

Earlier this month the Bruins had a great start to the season as they defeated Utah Tech, Colorado Mesa, and Westminster in preseason scrimmages.
