Salt Lake City, UTAH- No. 12 SLCC Volleyball (10-3) won their first match of the Canyon View Invitational against Missouri State University-West Plains (2-6) in four sets.
Cameron Zajer led Salt Lake with 16 kills and hit .406 in the match. Andie Thomas recorded eleven kills for the Bruins and hit .400. Thomas led Salt Lake with three service aces. Shaylee Dahle hit .533 and totaled eight kills for SLCC.
Both of Salt Lake's setters tallied double-digit assists as Myka Christensen and Avrie Valgardson had 25 and 16 assists respectively.
Salt Lake finished day one of the Invitational upsetting No. 1 ranked Miami Dade College (10-1) in five sets. The Bruins dropped the first set, but bounced back and won the second set. The Sharks got off to a quick start in set three leading 8-2 at one point. Salt Lake made it close, but lost set three 22-25. The Bruins blew open set four and led 24-11 before winning the fourth set 25-17. Salt Lake won the fifth set 15-8 to hand Miami Dade their first loss of the season.
Zajer led Salt Lake once again as she totaled 19 kills in the five set victory. Paige Ballif added 16 kills for the Bruins. Lili Murase and Shaylee Dahle both had ten kills for Salt Lake.
Daxlyn Gammell had 23 digs. Christened recorded 30 assists and Valgardson recorded 20 assists.

Salt Lake Volleyball has two matches on Saturday September 13th as they wrap up the Canyon View IInvitational. 11:30 am against Eastern Wyoming College and 4:30 pm against No. 10 Trinity Valley Community College.
