TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Saturday, September 14, 2024)— Salt Lake capped the UFirst Intermountain Invitational by dropping its final match against Trinity Valley Community College in five sets. The Bruins dropped the bread games in the tournament, sandwiching the losses around a 3-1 win over No. 8 Weatherford College.
Sophomore Addy McArthur was everywhere, leading SLCC with 19 kills on 44 attacks (.341), three service aces, and 23 points. Havi Montano added three service aces, while Logan Lindsay finished with 13 kills.
The Bruins looked overwhelmed in the first set, falling 25-18. It looked like a similar story in set two before battling back to tie the set at 23. SLCC couldn't finish the momentum, losing 25-23.
Fifth-ranked Salt Lake stormed back in sets three and four, winning both 25-21 to set up a winner-take-all tie-break.
The Cardinals rallied to take the final set and the match, beating the Bruins 15-10.
Salt Lake freshman Myka Christensen was named to the UFirst Intermountain Invitational All-Tournament team. The former Skyridge Falcon led the Bruins with 50 assists against Trinity Valley.
